MOSCOW, Jul 28 (PRIME) -- Russian engineering company Technopromexport has not received any offers from Germany’s Siemens to buy back the turbines that were sent to Crimea, a representative of the company told reporters on Friday.
“Public joint stock company Technopromexport has not received any official offers from Siemens on a buy back of the turbines,” the representative said.
“Due to the bankruptcy of the company, we’ve decided to sell the equipment under a court ruling. Moreover, we officially offered Siemens to buy back these turbine units in 2016 on initiative from Technopromexport, we announced an open tender for that, but Siemens rejected the offer. We sold the turbines to another company.”
Siemens said last week that all the four turbines meant to be used on a Russian power plant on the Taman Peninsula were illegally shipped to Crimea, forcing the company to cancel its licensing agreements to sell power equipment to Russian firms and suspend the current agreements with state-run companies.
The representative said the turbines were modified, and customized for a project. “Russian know-hows were used, and additional equipment was bought. The company spent money to transport, install the equipment and on certification,” the representative said.
